Maltepe is a largely residential district stretching along the Sea of Marmara on Istanbul's Asian side. Its broad reclaimed seafront, with walking and cycling paths, picnic lawns and open grounds that host occasional concerts and events, is one of the most popular gathering places in the area. The Princes' Islands are clearly visible from the shore, while inland you find housing complexes, university campuses and shopping areas.
Maltepe lies between the airport and central Istanbul, on the same side of the city. Because the district spreads from the shoreline up to the hills north of the main highway, it is important to include the neighbourhood name and full address in your booking. If you are attending an event on the seafront, keep in mind that some roads may be closed on event days.
